How the Korean landmark guessing game works

Updated 31 October 2026: Explorer mode now offers four city choices, streaks, three session missions and a replay of missed places.

  1. Look for clues. Each adventure has five rounds. Inspect roofs, mountains, coastlines and city scenery.
  2. Choose a city. Explorer mode gives you four choices. A correct answer earns 5,000 points, or 4,000 after revealing a clue, and a passport stamp. A wrong answer earns zero points and reveals the right city.
  3. Discover the answer. Read a short cultural introduction, see the landmark on the reference map and follow its KVIBE audio guide.
  4. Build your streak. Earn session badges for three discoveries, two correct answers without clues and 15,000 points.
  5. Try again. Replay missed places after your results, or choose Map challenge to place a pin yourself.

There is no countdown. Each round awards up to 5,000 points, for a maximum of 25,000. Map challenge keeps distance scoring: a guess within 25 km earns a stamp, and within 1 km earns a perfect answer. Best scores are saved separately for each mode on the same browser, alongside your stamps.

Where can you explore?

RegionLandmarkWhat to look for
SeoulGyeongbokgung PalaceA royal throne hall and layered painted eaves
SeoulView from N Seoul TowerA hilltop perspective across the capital
SuwonHwaseomun GateA fortress entrance and curved defensive wall
GyeongjuBulguksa TempleBuddhist architecture connected to Silla heritage
BusanGamcheon Culture VillageColorful houses climbing a coastal hillside
BusanHaeundae BeachAn urban beach and waterfront scenery
Jeju IslandSeongsan IlchulbongA volcanic crater near the island’s eastern coast

The first edition includes seven places. Each game selects five, so familiar scenes will return. Today’s Adventure uses the same order for everyone on a given Korea Standard Time date; Quick Play reshuffles the places.

Use a virtual discovery to plan a real Korea trip

If you are deciding what to see in Seoul, start with the contrast between the palace district and Namsan’s city view. Suwon adds a fortress walk south of the capital. Gyeongju introduces Silla Buddhist heritage, while Busan pairs a hillside neighborhood with a seaside stop. Jeju’s volcanic landscape offers another kind of journey.

Use the game as an introduction, then explore the KVIBE Korea audio guide collection. Dedicated guides include Gyeongbokgung Palace, Suwon Hwaseong, Bulguksa Temple, Gamcheon Culture Village and Seongsan Ilchulbong.

Respect residential areas in Gamcheon, keep voices low around temple prayer halls and check official visitor notices before making plans. Photographs show a place at a particular moment; weather, access and local conditions can change.

Photo game or 360-degree virtual tour?

Korea Quest is a photo and map guessing game. The first edition does not provide live street views or a 360-degree walking simulation. Its focus is a short, accessible way to recognize Korean attractions and discover the stories behind them.

Share your Korea challenge

At the end of five rounds, use Share My Adventure to copy your score and a row of result squares. Send it to a friend and compare the same daily adventure. There is no public leaderboard in this edition.
